A PROFILE

In accordance with the policy of the state Government of Madras to have one college for the every district and in view of the public demand for a college at Headquarters after the new district of Srikakulam was carved out of the Visakhapatnam District in August 1950, a second Grade college in Srikakulam was sanctioned by the Madras Government in their G.O.No. 1877 Education dated 9th May 1951.

The Department of Hindi has been functioning since the inception of the college in the year 1951 with one post of Assistant Lecturer.

The Andhra Government upgraded the college with effect from 1954-55 by sanction the opening of B.A Class in their G.OMS.NO: 766 Edn dated 2nd July 1954.

With the reorganization of collegiate Education pre-university course and the three year Degree course have taken the place of Intermediate and Two year Degree courses from the year 9157-58 and 1958-59 respectively. Under three year degree courses besides the B.A class, B.Sc and B.Com were sanctioned and started with effect from the years 1959-60 and 1960-61 respectively, as Hindi was made compulsory for B.Com students.

Affiliation has been graded for starting night college with pre-university course in Arts groups with effect from 1967-68 and Degree course with effect from 1968-69. A third post of Assistant lecturer in Hindi was sanctioned then.

            Smt. B.SUGUNA KUMARI: She is the only staff member and in charge of the Hindi Department. She has put in a total service of 11 years and 6 months as detailed below:

She started her service as Junior Lecturer in Hindi on 6th February 2002 and has been promoted as Lecturer in Hindi and joined on 29th May, 2013.

She has been allowed Ph.D in the year 2012 on the topic Usha Priyavand ki kahaniyo me Nathik saonsya till now the work not completed

 

 

The eminent persons Sri. Peesapati bhema Sankara Sastry M.A., Sri.G.Seetha Ramaiah M.A., Sri N.Anjaneyulu M.A., B.Ed and Dr. K.Appala Naidu. M.A., Ph.D rendered their services as Lecturers.

One post of Assistant Lecturer was abolished in 1987 at the time of cancellation of night college system as many universities started to provide the courses through correspondence system. Another post of Assistant Lecturer was also abolished, when Hindi was made one of the optional subjects under second language in the place of compulsory subject. Till then only post of lecturer is being continued.

Dr. K. Appala Naidu M.A., Ph.D continuously rendered his services as Lecturer from May 1987 to June 2001.

The Department enjoyed the pride in holding the office of the principal as Dr. K. Appala Naidu M.A., Ph.D Reader & Head of the department discharged duties as principal full additional charge from 10.06.2000 till June 2001. i.e., the date of retirement, for a period of one year.

The post was kept vacant from July 2011 to October 2002.

After that Sri P.Hanumantha Rao. M.A; M.Phil; B.Ed; rendered his services as Lecturer the Hindi from 01.11.2002 to March 2009. The Post was kept vacant from April 2009 to October 2010. On appointment to the post of Lecturer in Hindi Sri Dr. D.Jayasankar Kiran. M.A., M.Phil; Ph.D., the department is enjoying a privilege to have a full time lecturer who is catering to the needs of Hindi learning student community up to the maximum satisfaction of one and all.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16: Six Students were identified and given extra coaching to improve their academic performance.

 

ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17:  Some Students were identified and given extra coaching to improve their academic performance.

RESULTS : The first meeting of the department is arranged in the month of June immediately after the reopening of the college and reviews the results so that proper steps are taken for the improvement of the academic performance of the students. The same will be recorded in the mints book. The percentage of results in the subject and paper concerned are maintained in a separate file.

 

 

Department library: A reference section in the department is maintained by borrowing books form college library. 50 copies of various books pertaining to the subject are available to the students.

66 personal books of Hindi, Sanskrit, Telugu and English languages are kept in the department library to enrich the knowledge of the students.

EVALUATION OF STUDENTS: The department conducts unit tests and assignments regularly for both the first and second year students for assessing their performance. Marks list are prepared and placed in a separate register. The department also conducts tutorials in which the students actively participate and the same is recorded in a separate file.

The staff also submits reports of unit tests and assignments conducted in the Department in their performance indicators.

The college conducts half yearly examinations in November / December and pre final examination at the end of every academic year to prepare the students for university examinations. The lecturer prepares model question paper for that.

Extension lecturer: Every year the department organizes extension lectures by inviting eminent academicians from local and neighbouring colleges or retired persons.

REMEDIAL COACHING: Remedial classes are arranged in the department every year to the academically backward students to improve their academic standards. The lecturer actively participates in taking classes for them.

EXTRA – CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: The lecturer of the department actively participates in the activates organized by the college, He extends his co-operation to N.S.S organizes during camps.

The Lecturer of the Department Smt. B.SUGUNA KUMARI is the member of college calendar committee, magazine committee and women empowerment.

As a part of clean and Green programmer organized in the college every third Saturday he actively participates along with the students to clean up classrooms and the surroundings.

Action Plan

 

  1. To identify the academically back ward students and to give remedial coaching
  2. To organize quiz competition for I and II year students in Hindi occasionally, which be helpful for them at the time of participating several competitions and to develop their knowledge.
  3. To organize “Antyakshari” for II and I year students in Hindi at least once in two months to cope up the vocabulary and usages.
  4. To encourage the students to participate in class seminars and tutorials for I and II years in Hindi at least once in every month, which will be beneficial in improving subject awareness and stage presentation.
  5. To organize Extension Lecturer by inviting eminent academicians from the nearly colleges or by retired persons.
  6. To conduct extra – curricular activities like Essay writing and Elocution competitions among the students to create general awareness.
  7. To encourage the students to utilize the library for development of subject as well as general awareness.
  8. To give guidance to the outgoing students on various career opportunities including self-employment schemes.
